School is no place for a sick child. When to keep your child home from school:
1. Your child should be fever free (oral temperature less than 100 degrees) for 24 hours without the assistance of a temperature-reducing medication. This is a district policy. Inexpensive thermometers are easily available from your grocery store or pharmacy.
2. Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 12-24 hours.
3. An unexplained rash.
4. Earache.
5. Red or crusty eyelids or drainage from eyes.
6. Headache, cough, sore throat, or congestion severe enough to interfere with attention to school work.
7. Flare-ups of asthma.
If you think your child may be slightly ill, please notify me so I will know how to proceed if they should come to the nurse's office. PE excuses are also available by sending a note with your child or calling me.
Please follow these guidelines. Your child may be contagious to others and, besides that, will probably not be feeling well enough to learn.
